How it works

From .ifc to answers in three steps

  1. STEP 01

No artificial limits

Most online IFC tools upload your model. We never do.

Because processing happens on your machine there is no server to protect, no queue to wait in and no reason to cap file sizes or daily conversions. Your model stays confidential by design — not by policy.

How local processing works →
File size Typical tools: Caps at 25–100 MB, bigger files behind a paid tier IFCfiles: Any size your device can handle — we test with 67 MB+ project files
Daily use Typical tools: A handful of free conversions per day, then a paywall IFCfiles: Unlimited files, every day, free
Your model Typical tools: Uploaded to a server, queued, stored who-knows-where IFCfiles: Processed in your browser — it never leaves your machine

Premium is coming — permanent share links, batch conversion, ad-free.

The viewer and every converter stay free and local. Premium adds what only a server can do.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to open my IFC files here?

Yes. Your files are parsed locally in your browser using WebAssembly — they are never uploaded to any server. Close the tab and nothing persists.

Which IFC versions are supported?

IFC2x3, IFC4 and IFC4x3, plus compressed .ifczip files.

Is there a file size limit?

No hard limit. Models up to roughly 300 MB work well depending on your device's memory; we show a heads-up above 150 MB.

Do I need to create an account?

No account, no email, no install. Open the page, drop your file, done.

Is this viewer open source?

The 3D engine is built on the open source BIM ecosystem — That Open Company's components and the web-ifc parser, the same foundations trusted across the openBIM community. IFCfiles itself (the tools, the conversion pipeline and everything around them) is our own work on top of that foundation.
